Textiles in general, and residents’ personal clothing in particular, are a real risk factor for infections and problems. It should not be neglected and must be managed seriously.

The laundry has an important responsibility to eliminate contamination of dirty clothes first; secondly, to avoid re-contamination of clean clothes in the laundry itself and in the corridors; and finally, to also avoid skin risk to residents. This requires organization, procedures, and methods that are regularly tested and controlled.
