Integrating Innovation into the National Health System: Data, AI and Regulation

The Digital Health Strategy 2021-2026 extends over the next three years through new collaborative work programs between the Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities. These programs—Artificial Intelligence for the National Health System (NHS), the NHS Integrated Medical Imaging Network, and the expansion of the Personalized Digital Care Plan and the ÚNICAS network—are complemented by work on the future digital health law. The aim is to establish a framework in which health data from the European Health Data Area, artificial intelligence algorithms, and digital health solutions are deployed equitably, securely, and effectively within the national health system.
